As a holistic health coach
Ready to take your flying experience to the next level? As a holistic health coach who's always on the go, I understand how taxing traveling can be on your mental and physical health. That's why I've put together a list of must-have travel essentials that'll make your time in the air way more enjoyable and help you recover quickly. Whether you're a once-in-a-blue-moon traveler or a jet-setting pro, these items are sure to make the experience less stressful.
All-purpose Wipes
Wipes are an underrated item to have when traveling. I usually get an unscented pack that I can use anywhere because you never know when they will come in handy.
Hydration Packets
The air is extremely dry on airplanes so I always like to give my body a little extra hydration. These Nectar packets are my go-to, they are sugar free and made with organic ingredients.
Reusable Water Bottle
Most airports nowadays have water bottle filling stations. I like to bring my own full water bottle on flights because the tiny cups of water that are passed out just don’t cut it. Also water bottles at the airport cost more than my monthly rent.
Lip Balm
Again, since the air is so dry on planes I like to have a lip balm on me at all times. Basically don't go anywhere without this.
Noise Canceling Headphones
I can and will not step foot on a plane without these. I normally try to work during flights and if there is any noise around me I cannot focus. They also give me a sense of solitude in such a cramped space.
Healthy Snacks
It’s always a good idea to bring snacks with you on a flight. If the airline even offers snacks, they are normally not clean/healthy.
A Sweater or Jacket
The temperature on planes can range from the arctic tundra to the gates of hell so I always dress in layers. This sweater from JCrew is perfect because it’s comfortable and lightweight.
A few more helpful tips:
DON'T wear makeup on a plane. Makeup holds onto dirt and environmental exposures that can result in free radicals and can be drying. Always try to board with a clean, moisturized face.
DO download shows or movies to your phone ahead of time. You don’t always know if the plane is going to have a working TV.
DO be extra polite to flight attendants. Their job is hard enough, a little kindness goes a long way.
DON'T take your socks off. Think this one is a given but it's gross.
